Azhar takes Vidarbha to victory

Chennai, Aug 15 (UNI) Leg spinner Azhar Shaikh returned with a match haul of nine for 88 to power Vidarbha to a comfortable innings and 116 run win over Tripura on the second day of the Mindteck All India Buchi Babu Invitation cricket tournament here today.

Vidarbha gained eight points for the outright win.

Azhar spun a web around the Tripura batsmen claiming eight for 54 in the first innings, as they were bowled out for 123 in 63.3 overs in reply to Vidarha's 309.

Barring Rana Datta (33 not out, 87 balls, 4x4) who came in at number eight, none of the other batsmen were able to come to terms with Azhar.

Following on 186 runs behind, Tripura finished at 70 for four in a maximum of 45 overs in the second innings, with right arm medium pacer Sandeep singh (2 for 21) doing the early damage and Azhar picking up one more wicket as Vidarbha won with a day to spare.
