Accidental gunfire by CRPF jawan creates panic in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 15 (UNI) An accidental fire by a CRPF personnel at Jehangir Chowk here today triggered panic among the security forces, police and the passers-by, official sources said.

They said a fire accidentally went off from the service weapon of the CRPF jawan, posted at Jehangir Chowk near Lal Chowk this morning which created panic among the security forces and the police.

Sources, however, said security personnel present in the area maintained calm and brought the situation under control.

It was not immediately known how the fire went off from the jawan's weapon.
