Six-tier security for CM

Chennai, Aug 14 (UNI) A six-tier security cover has been provided to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in the wake of threat of suicide bomb attack on him, if the results of the constabulary examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board, were not declared before August 15.

According to police sources special arrangement has been made at Fort St. George, housing the state Secretariat where the Chief Minister will hoist the tricolour tomorrow.

The sources said a surveillance camera has been put up at the venue of the flag hoisting function at Fort St.George, for monitoring on closed circuit television inside the venue.

Offices of all the foreign Consulate Generals especially the American Consulate and Sri Lankan embassy were brought under high security category and provided fool proof security cover, the sources added.

The sources said security arrangements have been made in all other crowded places in the city. Temporary police towers were also erected in sensitive places of the city.

Additioanl security hs been provided at all shopping complexes with round the clock vehicle checks. Private lodging houses were also being checked constantly.

Police patrolling in the busy moffusil bus terminal at Koyambedu has also been arranged, the sources added.
