Bhopal, Aug 14 (UNI) Rail traffic on the Bhopal-Bina section of West Central Railway remained disrupted following landslide near Dewanganj and waterlogging of tracks due to heavy rains in the state capital.

Many trains plying on New Delhi-Chennai and Bhopal-Mumbai routes were running six-seven hours behind schedule.

''Several trains -- including Bhopal Express, GT Express, Pushpak Express, Karnataka Express, Malwa Express and Tamil Nadu Express -- were running behind schedule,'' West Central Railway PRO Anil Jain said.

Traffic on both up and down tracks were diverted on a single track, due to damage caused by the landslides between Bhadbada and Dewanganj stations, near Bhopal.

Few hundred passengers staged a sit-in before the Bilaspur Express at Salamatpur station protesting delay in train movement.

Earlier, rail traffic was badly affected, as the engine of Raptisagar Express derailed near Midghat station in Bhopal Division of the West Central Railway. The engine was repaired and rail traffic was restored.

Air traffic was also affected with the state capital's Raja Bhoj airport cancelling a New Delhi-bound Indian Airlines flight.

Incoming flights from New Delhi were expected to be delayed.
