Parties demand inquiry into the Gavit issue
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The All-Party meeting convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today unanimously demanded a probe into the alleged conversation between Union Minister of State for Home Manik Rao Gavit and Uttar Pradesh mafia don Sunder Singh Bhati.
According to BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, there was total consensus that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should look into the matter and bring out the truth.
Mr Gavit had denied that he had spoken to the don to help solve a land dispute for his son-in-law.
Mr Malhotra said the parties were also of the unanimous opinion that there should be regulations for the sting operations. Many countries had such regulations, he said.
The BJP leader said if it was not a sting operation it must be investigated who was doing the surveillance.
