Islamabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf has said the country does not threaten anyone nor will it accept any threat from anybody.

''We are a strong nation and nobody dare threaten or coerce us,'' Saib Gen Musharraf at a function here last night to celebrate Pakistan's 59th Independence Day.

He said the country's defence has been made impregnable and no one dare threaten or cast an evil eye on it.

The President said Pakistan is a proud nation and it must be treated with sovereign equality.

Stressing the need for changing the mindset, he said, ''We do not threaten anyone nor do we accept threats from anybody.'' Gen Musharraf called upon the people to join hands with him in making Pakistan economically, politically and militarily a strong nation.

He said ''we need stability in all these three areas and we all have to contribute to achieve and retain it.'' President Musharraf said the government was committed to making Pakistan a strong and prosperous nation.

He said that defence of Pakistan had been made strong and now it no longer depended on external sources. In this connection, he referred to the indigenisation of defence production including Al-Khalid tank, Agosta submarine, JF-Thunder combat aircraft and Babar cruise missile.

''It is our national duty to make Pakistan a strong country and safeguard its sovereignty,'' he said.
