Heavy pilgrims rush at Tirumala
Tirumala, Aug 14 (UNI) In view of holidays beginning on Saturday, the temple town of Lord Venkateswara witnessed heavy pilgrim rush and the temple authorities have restored 'mahalagu darshan' (long distance darshan) to cope up with the weekend rush today.
TTD officials here said, the situation was no better at Padmavathi guest house where only VVIPs were being accommodated.
To tackle the situation, officials appealed to the pilgrims to vacate the premises after darsan to facilitate the same for other pilgrims.
Following the recent terror strikes in the country and threat preception to Tirumala, the TTD Vigilance Department and police department had made elaborate security arrangements here.
Besides monitoring all public places like railway stations, bus stations and lodges, a round the clock patrolling was imposed.
