Alliance air makes emergency landing in Mizoram

Aizawl, Aug 14: An Alliance two-propeller ATR aircraft's engine caught fire shortly after leaving Lengpui airport on Thrusday, a delayed report here today stated.

Airport official sources added that the plane was on the way for Guwahati took from Lengpui airport with 24 passengers when the number two engine died after ten minutes of flight.

The engine subsequently caught fire which was doused with the engine's automatic fire extinguisher.

The plane was forced to return to Lengpui airport on one engine and made a safe emergency landing.

Engineers are reported to have said the engine would need to be replaced completely.
