Kishanganj, Aug 13 (UNI) In the run up to Independence day celebrations and prevailing terror scenario, surveillance across Kishanganj district, sandwiched between Nepal and Bangladesh has been beefed up.

Additional protection was deployed at important installations, including railway stations.

District Magistrate (DM) Daya Nandan Prasad, talking to newsmen here today, said DIGs (Deputy Inspector General) of BSF (Border Security Force) and SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) have been advised to keep permanent vigil along Indo-Bangladesh and Bihar-Nepal border.

They have also been asked to keep a tab on the movement of people, particularly in the border villages.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Kumar Sinha said all the police stations and outposts have been asked to maximise vigilance and cops have been tipped to remain alert.

Lying on the corridor between sensitive North-East and the rest of the country, the district of Kishanganj has always been volatile and has often been the conduit for anti-Indian militant outfits and subversives.

Recent upheaval and changes in the land-locked Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal have not only affected wide-ranging security perceptions but also furrowed the forces guarding the borders, intelligence sources said.
