Gollapudi memorial award presented to director Mohan Krishna

Chennai, Aug 13 (UNI) Telugu Director L Mohan Krishna has been presented the annual Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation National Award for his debut film ''Grahanam'' this year.

At a glittering function here yesterday in the presence of a few other stalwarts of Indian cinema, Bollywood actor Amir Khan presented the award to Mr Krishna, set up in memory of Gollapudi Srinivas, the son of Telugu journalist and actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, nine years ago.

The award is presented to 'first time directors' in recognition of their hard work and to encourage them to scale new heights.

The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh and a memento.

While Aamir Khan was the Chief Guest, Bollywood director Ramesh Sippy of 'Sholay' fame, and actress Shobana were the Guests of Honour.

Well-known Bengali film maker Goutam Ghose delivered the Memorial Lecture, on the topic: ''Collective memories and timelessness in cinema.'' UNI VV MS GC0918
