Elaborate security measures for I Day celebration in Arunachal
Itanagar, Aug 13 (UNI) Keeping in view the boycott call by various militant outfits of North East on the Independence day, elaborate security measures has been taken up in Arunachal Pradesh for celebrating the ocassion.
About 400 security personnel, including state police and CRPF, have been deployed in the Capital complex for ensuring fool-proof security to the citizens during the Day's celebration, Director General of Police (DGP) Amod K Kanth told UNI today.
All the entry points of the state capital and other parts of the state would be monitored and massive checking and frisking of vehicles have started round the clock, he informed adding night patrolling have been conducted in all the vulnerable places to thwart any untoward incidents during the celebration.
''We are leaving no stones unturned to make security of citizens our prime motto and for this every thing possible was being done,'' the DGP said.
Checking of Inner Line Permit has been intensified in all check gates of the state, following possibilities of sneaking of ultras into the state's territory from neighbouring states.
Meanwhile, the state Capital this time is all set to celebrate Independence Day in a different way with introduction of various cultural programmes, besides the regular ones, sources informed.
There would be musical tribute to the freedom fighters, who laid down their lives for the country's freedom 59 years ago, by six renowned singers from the state, who would perform in the celebration, sources added.
Sports and other cultural extravaganzas would be organised.
State Chief Minister Gegong Apang would address the ocassion.
