District court in Jodhpur goes online

Jaipur, Aug 13: The Jodhpur district court has become the first in the country to go online Litigants can now check the status of the case, date of hearing and get copies of judgment without travelling to the court premises.

The court made the landmark achievement in less than a year after the Union Ministry the Union Ministry of Law and Justice selected it with a grant of Rs.80 lakh under the project, District Court Information System(DCIS). The district court has formally joined the global network of computers on July 19.

According to sources a four - member team of court officials modified the DCIS to meet the local needs by adding several user-friendly features to take care of the information needs of the litigants in both the civil and criminal segments.
