Chinese army to celebrate I-Day at the border
Bumla, Aug 13: India and China will take forward the bilateral relationship a step forward with the later coming to the Indian side to celebrate the Independence Day bilateral relations.
The Chinese army would be crossing over the McMohan line to to participate in the Independence Day celebrations, the army officials informed here today.
The Indian Army had made all arrangements here to receive the Chinese guests on the I-day.
Bumla is the end frontier of Indo-China, situated at 15500 feet above the sea level, where the temperature remains below zero degree Celsius around the year and is known as the world's most inhospitable battle grounds after Siachen.
About 90 strong delegations Chinese delegation would come here to participate in the day-long programme, along with the vital Border Personnel meeting (BPM).
The visit of each other's delegation on their national days have become a tradition for some years with India going to the Chinese side on the PLA Day on October 1. 'Neither the Chinese nor our troops are talking of hostilities any more and this shows a sign of improving relations, Brigadier Kumar said.
Lhasa is just 500 kilometere away while Guwahati is about 600 kilometres from Bumla and people from these places would be coming to mark the event despite the spine chilling cold and the treacherous hair pin curves, said the army officials.
