Security tightened in Nagpur
Nagpur, Aug 12 (UNI) Security has been tightened in Nagpur city in view of intelligence reports that terrorists intended to carry out attacks in the country.
The police will carry out 'nakabandi' and surprise checks in hotels and lodges in the city everyday till Tuesday. Security has been beefed up at major locations like the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Hedgewar Smruti Bhawan and places of religious worship. Armed men have been deployed in sensitive areas. Plain-clothed men have also fanned out all over the city, sources said.
In a search operation against known offenders in various localities of the city over the past week, the police checked nabbed 21 absconding persons wanted in various offences. They also arrested 11 persons against whom non-bailable warrants had been issued.
Meanwhile, the police have issued prohibitory orders in the city till August 22.
