FIR against two district officials

Lucknow, Aug 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today lodged FIR against Hardoi district's former Backward Class Welfare Officer Dharamvir Singh and Ambedkar Nagar district's present Backward Class Welfare Officer S K Singh in Hajratganj police station.

State's Backward Class Welfare Director Vimal Kishore Gupta said administration enquired the case of Dharamvir Singh's bank account where he deposited the money sanctioned for student scholarships by two assistant directors, Dr A K Sisodiya and Lalchandra Verma.

It was proved in the enquiry that Mr Singh opened an account in City Development Sahkari Bank on December 3, 2004 (Account no 300) and transacted an amount of Rs 36,11,632. It was long after his transfer from Hardoi on June 10, 2005, the account was closed on June 21, 2005, without anyone being given the charge of the account.

He did not provide any related information even after being given the opportunity to do so by August 4, 2006.

Another case that has come to light is of district Ambedkar Nagar Backward Class Welfare Officer S K Singh, in connection with irregular distribution of backward class scholarship and misuse of money.

Mr Singh sent the scholarship amount without clarifying the number of students of Padmavati Devi Balika Inter College, Gayatripuram, Surhupur. He did not initiate an inquiry inspite of repeated complaints.

District Magistrate Ambedkar Nagar, made an inquiry on July 5, 2005, and sent a report to the administration to initiate an inquiry.
