Elephant found dead in Kolhapur district
Kolhapur, Aug 12 (UNI) One elephant has been found dead today in Kolhapur district's Radhanagari wildlife sanctuary, according to official sources.
Radhanagari range forest officer Mr S B Chavan told UNI that the local villagers had reportedly seen the elephant hale and hearty till late yesterday evening. But today morning at 0930 hrs, they noticed the tusker lying near their village and promptly informed the forest office. Mr Chavan said that on receiving the information he accompanied by his staff rushed to the spot at around 1030 hrs, and found the elephant was dead.
The exact cause of the five year old tusker's death will be known only after the results of the post-mortem come in, he informed.
Conservator of Wildlife, Kolhapur, Mr Rao and deputy conservator Mr V C Clement have rushed to the spot, he added.
