Bomb explosion kills three in Iraq's Basra
Basra (Iraq), Aug 12: A bomb exploded near a market in the southern Iraqi city of Basra today, killing at least three people and wounding two, police sources said.
Iraqiya state television said the bomb exploded inside an electronics shop.
Basra, Iraq's second city, had been relatively stable compared to other parts of the country.
But a rise in rival Shi'ite gangs and militias and violence which could threaten oil exports prompted Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to tighten security measures there.
