Assam Rifles starts a school in Manipur
Senapati, Aug 12: Assam Rifles(South) IG Major General B S Ghotra inaugurated a new school building of the Jwalamukhi Public School to be run by 14 Assam Rifles here.
While inaugurating the Rs 1.6 crore school building, the IG said another Rs 40 lakhs has been earmarked for the expansion of the school complex.
He further said there were no proper schools in the area and stressed upon the need of a CBSE affiliated school for the army personnel's children.
The school boasts of one of the best equipped laboratories, a state of the art computer lab and a library, which houses over 3000 books, official sources said.
The school building is constructed to pay tribute to the first Commandant of the unit Lt Col Hoshiyar Singh, sources added.
