14 Fishermen missing in Sunderbans

Kolkata, Aug 12 (UNI) At least fourteen fishermen have been missing since Wednesday in Jammu island off the Bay of Bengal in South 24 Parganas district, official sources said today.

Fishermen Association's secretary Bijon Maity said the fishermen had gone out in two trawlers for fishing in the deep sea four days back and have not returned since.

The association had also informed senior state officials.

Indian Caost Guard personnel were making sorties to trace them.

Incidentally, for the past few days the sea has been rough following a depression in the Bay of Bengal.
