'We are cautious, security has been beefed up'

Mumbai, Aug 11: Maharashtra Deptuy Chief Minister R R Patil today said in the backdrop of yesterday's foiled terrorist bid in UK and in view of Independence day celebrations and Ganesh festival, the police is taking adequate care to avoid any untoward incident.

Mr Patil told mediapersons here, ''We are aready to face any eventuality of terrorist attack. Since the past several years, more care has always been taken for Independence day celebrations. And now against the backdrop of 7/11 serial blasts, more care would be taken,'' Mr Patil said.

State Reserve Police (SRP) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed at sensitive places, he said.

When asked whether Al Qaeda is eyeing Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra, Mr Patil said, ''Mumbai blasts investigations is on and it would be inappropriate to comment on this.'' ''Investigations into the blasts is in the right direction and soon, all the accused would be booked by ATS, Mumbai police and CBI and other central agencies, which are co-ordinating in investigating the blast.'' Further, he said the DNA test of the unclaimed body in the serial bomb blasts has been done.

There were reports suggesting that the unclaimed body was that of the terrorist who had planted the bomb inside one of the compartments.
