UB Group to set up malting unit in Punjab
Chandigarh, Aug 11 (UNI) United Breweries Group (UB) will setup a Rs 45 crore malting unit with a 30,000 TPA capacity in Punjab for brewing beer.
The nod for this project was given by the high level state Empowered Committee which met here today. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder singh chaired the meeting.
The Committee decided to grant special incentives under industrial policy-2003 for this project. The unit is likely to be located either at Laddowal in Ludhiana district or Nabha in Patiala district.
The UB Group is already involved in contract farming of hybrid barley in Punjab. The company supplies the seeds to the farmers and then buys the crop from them for malting purposes.
