TTD to increase laddus to two lakh everyday: Sarma

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu Aug 11 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam(TTD) Executive Officer APVN Sarma said steps would be initiated to make two lakh laddus everyday in Tirumala at Tirupati.

Talking to newspersons here after participating in the 72nd birthday of Acharya Jayendra Saraswathi yesterday, he said at present 1.5 lakh laddus were prepared in Tirumala for the convenience of devotees on a daily basis. Efforts were undertaken by TTD to increase the number of laddus, considering the demand from devotees, he added.

Mr Sarma denied there was no truth in the report about the propagation of Christianity in Tirumala. TTD, however, has taken a clear-cut stand in this regard.

He said Tirupati is not a Tourist spot and it should be treated as a centre meant for offering prayers. The State Government has announced that seven mountains surrounding Tirumala, would henceforth be treated as the property of TTD, he added.

He said the Government decision will enable the TTD to bring all mountains under its purview. TTD will ensure the speeding of social service in Tirumala, he added.

He said 250-beds would be set-up at Chittoor Hospital for the disabled people. TTD, would enhance its social service in the entire country, he added.
