Srinagar lacks infrastructure, Haryana lands Santosh Trophy
New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) With Srinagar lacking the infrastructure, Haryana will host the 61st National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy scheduled in September.
All India Football Federation Secretary Alberto Colaco said in a a release today that both the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and AIFF President Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi agreed that Srinagar did not have the infrastructure to host the event.
''All India Football Federation has, therefore, decided that the 61st National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy will be held at Gurgaon and Faridabad, Haryana from the 14th of September, 2006,'' Mr Colaco said.
The draw of the tournament will be released next week.
Mr Azad, meanwhile, has assured the AIFF President that the work on improving the infrastructure would continue and requested him to allot the next year's Santosh Trophy to Srinagar.
