High security due to ultra threat before I-Day
Kohima, Aug 11: Security has been beefed up throughout Nagaland following intelligence reports that underground outfits were planning subversive acts before Independence day.
Reports here said some underground outfits from outside Nagaland might plant explosive devices in populated areas, specially in capital Kohima and the commercial hub Dimapur.
The state police also alerted vulnerable areas bordering Asom with apprehension that insurgents might sneak into Nagaland following pressure of the security forces there.
The state is, however, gearing up to celebrate the 60th Independence day and the Home Department has directed all districts to celebrate the day officially.
Rehersals of the Army, para-military and police forces, along with the NCC, Scouts and Guides and school students are continuing in the district headquarters ahead of Tuesday's celebration.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will unfurl the national tricolour in the Secretariat Ground to mark the day followed by day-long programme in this state capital.
