Punjab Committee approves 32 new mega projects
Chandigarh, Aug 11 (UNI) The Punjab Empowered Committee today approved 32 new mega projects worth Rs 6853.95 crore, expected to provide employment to about 22,000 people.
These included 21 industrial, four agro and seven housing and township projects.
The approval was granted at the meeting of the Committee presided over by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh here.
The projects approved included two manufacturing units to be set up in Ludhiana and Mohali districts with an investment of Rs 476.64 crore. These two units will generate employment for 4,500 people.
The committee has also given an approval to eight multiplexes in the districts of Amritsar, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Mohali entailing an investment of Rs 1,192 crore.
As many as five hotel projects for Amritsar, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Mohali districts with an investment of Rs 275.53 crore were amongst the approved projects.
The Committee also gave its nod to set up four industrial parks in the districts of Ludhiana, Nawanshahar and Mohali involving an investment of Rs 10,889 crore.
The Committee also decided to grant special package of concessions to a industrial park to be set-up by Nahar Industrial Enterprises Ltd and two IT parks to be set up by Tech Buildcon Pvt Ltd, Chandigarh and Tech Infrastructure.
