Pondy Govt to replace CPI leader's statue

Pondicherry, Aug 11 (UNI) The Pondicherry administration would install a bronze statue for veteran CPI leader and freedom fighter V Subbiah, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the Assembly today.

Replying to a question, Mr Rangasamy said the present statue was damaged as it was made from bad quality metal.

It would be replaced with a bronze statue on the same pedestal.

Replying to another question, the Chief Minister said the adminsitration was committed to allocate adequate funds for the development of basic amenities in rural areas and ensure it was done.

Several members, cutting across party lines, complained the MLAs Area Development Fund was not sufficent and sought more allocation.
