Pondy Admn inquiring into gas leak: Rangasamy

Pondicherry, Aug 11 (UNI) The Pondicherry administration is inquiring into the gas leak in a chemical factory here last night, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the legislative assembly today.

Replying to a special mention from AIADMK member A Anbazhagan, Mr Rangasamy said the government was aware of the pollution being caused by the Athiyappa Chemicals and wanted to shift the unit from Mettuppalayam to some other place in such a way that the industry was not affected.

In his special mention, Mr Anbazhagan pointed out that the effluents from the factory was causing pollution and four children had fainted last night following gas leak in the unit.

He demanded that the factory which posed a threat to human lives should be shifted.
