Pension no ground to decide compassionate appointment claim

Allahabad, Aug 11 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today ruled that family pension and other benefits should not be taken into account, while deciding claims for compassionate appointment.

The verdict was given by a division bench comprising Justices D S Chauhan and Pankaj Mitthal, while allowing a writ petition of Suresh Kumar, whose father working in the ordnance factory at Shahjahanpur, had died in March 1997.

The army authorities had rejected the claim of the petitioner for appointment on compassionate ground saying the mother had already been paid family pension and other benefits of GPF etc.

The department had denied the appointment to the petitioner under dying in harness rules.
