NRIs permitted to open technical institutes in Bihar

Patna, Aug 11 (UNI) Making clarification on recently announced policy for establishing technical institutes in Bihar, the government today said that NRIs and reputed institutes could file applications seeking permission for opening technical institutes here.

In reply to a short notice question of RJD's Nawal Kishore Yadav in the state Legislative Council, minister of state for science and techonology Dr Anil Kumar said a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) had been signed with the Birla Institute of Technology(BIT)-Mesra to open an engineering college in Patna.

Mr Kumar said suitable steps were being taken on the proposals submitted by private promoters for opening technical institues in the state. He said new institutes would be established as per guidelines issued by the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE).

Replying to a question from RJD's Dr Bhim Singh, the minister informed that science and technology council had opened science centres at Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Saharsa. For creating awareness about science, more science centres would be established in other districts of the state, he added.
