Man held for trying to cross Brahmaputra through train passage
Guwahati, Aug 11 (UNI) Six people, including five CRPF jawans, were injured today when a person tried to forcibly cross the Brahmaputra river through the train passage at Guwahati.
Police informed that the person tried to cross over to the other side through the train passage of the double-decker Saraighat bridge here.
When the security guards resisted, the person started running towards the passage. The jawans had to resort to firing in which five jawans were also injured.
The offender, identified as Manoj Kumar Yadav, sustained two bullet injuries.
He was seen hurling a packet into the river during the firing, though police refused to confirm it.
No clue has been found so far regarding the motive of the person.
