LS to discuss SC order on illegal constructions in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) The Lok Sabha will discuss on August 14 the situation arising from the Supreme Court order which had stayed the Urban Development Ministry notification for de-sealing the premises of commercial establishments operating from residential areas in Delhi.
The issue would come up for a debate in the form of a calling attention motion, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee announced in the House today.
The move was promptly welcomed by Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy and BJP Deputy Leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra.
The issue figured during Zero Hour today with Mr Rewati Raman Singh (SP) stating that a ''very serious situation'' had arisen following the court order, invalidating a law passed by Parliament.
Bulldozers would start rolling again to raze down 41,000 houses and this would affect lakhs of people, he said.
The Speaker said the House would also discuss next week the problem of female foeticide through a calling attention motion.
