IVRS system for railways employees to get payment details

Lucknow, Aug 11 (UNI) For the benefit of lakhs of retired and serving railways employees, an SMS based Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) was today inaugurated at the divisional railway office here.

The system would help the employees to know details of their provident fund (PF), post-retirement payment status and other service related matters either through SMS or telephone.

Northern Railway general manager V N Mathur inaugurated the system in finance office at Lucknow division headquarter. He said the railways employees would be able to get details of their payable funds at the click of a button.

The GM said passenger amenities were top on the agenda of Indian Railways and major stations were being spruced up to maintain high standards of cleanliness and facilities.

Five stations -- Varanasi, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Rae Bareli and Prayag -- have been chosen to be developed as model stations in terms of passenger amenities. The announcement in this regard was made in this year's railway budget and work on these atations was underway, Mr Mathur informed.

Besides, the doubling of track in Lucknow-Sultanpur section was on in full swing and these tasks would be completed during the current financial.

Mr Mathur also visited the Indian Railway Management Institute and inaugurated a 75-room railway hostel here.
