I-Day celebrations: Security stepped up in B'lore
Bangalore, Aug 11 (UNI) Security has been stepped up in the city to ensure smooth conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.
City Police Commissioner N Anchyutha Rao held a meeting with top police officials to discuss the security measures taken to maintain law and order in the city, particularly the Field Marshal Manekshaw parade grounds where the celebrations would be held.
On August 15, five Deputy Commissioners of Police, 12 ACPs, 27 Circle Inspectors and 80 Sub Inspectors would be on duty, besides 20 State Reserve Police platoons, CRPF, CISF and BSF personnel. Two waterjet vehicles were also kept ready.
According to a release issued by the police commissioner's office, top officials, including Additional Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar, Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) H C Kishore Chandra, Joint Commissioner of Police Gopal B Hosur and City Deputy Commissioner M A Sadiq, attended the meeting.
Security had been beefed up in the city eversince the July 11 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.
