Himalayan Car rally from September 30
Shimla, Aug 11 (UNI) The eight edition of the Raid de Himalayas begins from Shimla town of Himachal Pradesh on September 30, an official spokesman today said.
The seven-day rally would cover a distance of 2,200 kms in seven legs before coming to ending at Manali in Kullu district of the state on October six after covering Leh and Pongong Lake in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesman said the entry to the event has been closed earlier this year due to overwhelming response from the participants.
About 64 cars and 35 motorcycles, including six army teams, three air force teams and four all women teams, would take part in this year's Raid de Himalayas, he said.
He said the winner of the rally would be awarded a sum of Rs six lakhs at a function to be held at Manali on October seven.
