HC confirms capital punishment to rape-murder accused

Lucknow, Aug 11 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today confirmed the capital punishment awarded to a rape and murder accused.

Justice S N Shukla passed the order on an appeal filed by the accused, Lalit Kumar Yadav of Barabanki district.

The accused had challenged the capital punishment awardd to him on February 5, 2005 by Sessions Judge Barabanki.

Ram Chandra Chaurasia of Satrik area of Barabanki had filed a case against Yadav in February 2004 for raping and killing his daughter.

Following the trial, the Barabanki court found Yadav guilty of the crime and awarded him a death sentence.
