Haryana Health Department collects soft drinks samples

Chandigarh, Aug 11 (UNI) Haryana Health Department has taken samples of various soft drinks from all over the state to test the presence of pesticides, Health Services Director General Dr N K Sharma said today.

Addressing a meeting of civil surgeons at Panchkula near here, he said the state government was concerned about the health hazards caused by pesticides found in various brands of soft drinks recently.

Dr Sharma also directed the surgeons to strictly implement the Pre-natal Diagnostic Technique Act so as to check the menace of female foeticide.

He said a team of Health Department caught red handed Dr Kamlesh Sachdeva of Sachdeva Ultrasound Centre and Hospital, Karnal yesterday while detecting the sex of a foetus by conducting ultrasound test.

The team had sent a pregnant decoy customer at the ultrasound centre. Two ultrasound machines at the centre were also sealed by the raiding team.
