'Govt to set up separate Varsity for overseas Indians'
Kozhikode, Aug 11: The Centre was in the process of setting up a separate University for persons of Indian origin settled abroad, Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi today said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has envinced keen interest on the proposed varsity, which would be established at Hyderabad, he said while inaugurating a seminar organised jointly by chair of West Asian, African Studies of the Calicut University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University.
He said the proposal was before the Union Cabinet and a final decision would be taken very soon.
Earlier, talking to newspersons, he justified the Congress party's decision to suspend former External Affairs Minister and party leader K Natwar Singh for ''anti-party'' activities.
He described Mr Natwar's remarks that Dr Manmohan Singh was a weak Prime Minister as a ''reflection of an unsound mind.''
