Gas bottling plant commissioned in Mizoram
Aizawl, Aug 11: The much awaited first Mualkhanga gas bottling plant in the state was finally commissioned here today by Chief Minister Zoramthanga.
The bottling plant, which has a capacity of 5,000 metric tonnes per year, was initated by the supplies department in 1992 and it has taken around 14 years for the plant to become operatinal.
Even though the location falls within forest reserved area, the forest department gave clearance in view of the necessity to have such a plant in the state.
The bottling plant would be able to supply the state capital and other far flung areas to meet the demand of domestic LPG cylinders.
The state capital has more than 60,000 connections alone.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Zoramthanga said ''this has been made possible through the concerted efforts of the Indian Oil Company Limited and various department of the Mizoram government''.
