Doctor charged with female foeticide

Jaipur, Aug 11 (UNI) A doctor here has been charged with alleged violation of the pre-natal diagnostic techniques (PNDT) Act and found indulging in illegal abortion of female foetus.

The report was lodged by the Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr M S Yadav last night against Dr Suresh Gupta of Mahavir hospital for aborting a 16 week-old female foetus of a resident of Rajsamand district.

In such cases, opinion of two other doctors/consultants is necessary. However, the permission was not taken.

The police has lodged the case under sections 312 and 313 of the Indian Penal Code and PNDT Act.
