Delhi police SI convicted for accepting bribe

New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) A special CBI court today sentenced a Delhi Police sub inspector to three-and-a-half years rigorous imprisonment for demanding and accepting bribe.

Special CBI Judge Vinod Goel convicted sub inspector Jai Singh and also imposed a fine of Rs 1500 on him for accepting a bribe of Rs 500.

Jai Singh was arrested red-handed on December 27, 2001 while accepting Rs 300 from complainant Rajesh Mishra.

He was posted at the Janakpuri police station and had demanded Rs 2,000 from Mishra who was booked for drinking in a public place. However, the deal to withdraw the case against Mishra was fixed at Rs 500.

Jai Singh had earlier taken Rs 200 from Mishra as the first installment.
