Cong refutes TDP charge

Tirupati, Aug 11 (UNI) Congress Official Spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy today refuted the charge made by the Opposition Telugu Desam Party that the government had failed to take up flood relief works in the state.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Reddy alleged the TDP was trying to politicise the flood relief work.

Charging the then TDP Government with failing miserably in providing relief to the victims during the 2000-2001 floods, he said the Congress administration had done its best and provided timely relief to the victims.

The previous TDP regime failed to get more funds under the Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) and Natural Calamity Contingency Fund (NCCF) from the NDA Government at the Centre of which it was a part.

But now the Congress Government had got more funds, he claimed.
