APG launches new eco-friendly molecules
Kolkata, Aug 11 (UNI) Agrochemicals Promotion Group (APG), an industry body representing over 200 leading Indian Pesticide Manufacturers, today launched new molecules which will be effective against pests.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, APG chairman S Kumaraswamy said to optimize farm output, agrochemicals must be applied at a right time in recommended dosages and new molecules would degenerate within a short span of time leaving no residues.
New molecules would undergo more than 75 laboratory and field test to study its impact on environment and human health, he added He also said, ''A team of scientists have confirmed that residue levels of this new molecule will not detrimental to human health.
The APG provide support for the safe use of pesticides and to communicate to all the stakeholders-government, semi-government organisations, NGOs, consumers and people's health, he said.
India's pesticide industry is the third largest in Asia and 12th in the world and its pesticide markets is worth Rs 6,000 crores.
