AP govt to construct permanant structures in flood hit areas

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government will construct permanant structures to prevent damage caused by heavy rains and floods in coastal areas of the state, official sources said today.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who presided over the cabinet meet, had directed the district ministers and in-charge ministers to identify the areas, which were more prone to floods particularly in Khammam and Costal districts in the state.

The permanant structures would be contructed on rivers and streams to avoid submergence of villages located in low-lying areas during heavy rains and floods.

All steps, including transportation facility was provided to all villages which were marooned during the floods, except in 28 villages of East Godavari where the road, phone and rail connectivity was totally damaged, the sources added.
