153 selected from Udampur for Haj pilgrimage

Jammu, Aug 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir state Haj Committee has cleared 153 devotees of Udhampur district for Haj pilgrimage, official sources said here today.

A total of 164 applications were received, out of which 153 were selected against the available quota for Udhampur district.

Seven applicants could not be selected due to non-availability of seats while four appications did not fulfill the guidelines, sources added. A list indicating the name and other particulars along with serial numbers was prepared in chronological manner and submitted to the Office of Convenor, state Haj Committee, Srinagar.

Deputy Commissioner O P Kalandria said further instructions regarding the pilgrimage would be conveyed to them in due course of time. For this, he asked the concerned officials to be in touch with the intended Hajis and vice-versa.
