GSM operators join hands in Surat
Ahmedabad, Aug 10 (UNI) With floods wreaking havoc in communications system in Surat, private global system for mobile communications (GSM) operators have joined hands to help the residents there.
Hutch, Idea and Airtel will ensure that the citizens would be able to communicate using all telecom infrastructure. These operators will be working in tandem with each other by enabling interoperability of their telecom network infrastructure. This will mean that more cell sites are available to all of Surat's affected locations, thereby improving connectivity, said a release.
Every private GSM subscriber in Surat would be able to use any of the three networks to make calls. This step was one its kind in the industry wherein operators have made their infrastructure available to help in a crisis situation.
