Father fights tiger to save daughter in Uttaranchal
Dehra Dun, Aug 10 (UNI) A father fought with a tiger to save his infant daughter at Patisain village of Pauri district in Uttaranchal.
He succeeded in locking the tiger inside his house despite sustaining serious injuries. The tiger was later found dead in the house by forest officials.
According to SDM B K Mishra, last evening, Narendra Singh was sitting outside his house with his infant daughter when a tiger tried to attack her. In order to save his daughter from the beast, Narendra placed the baby under a chair and fought with the tiger.
He was badly injured in the process. However, he succeeded in locking the animal inside the house. An injured Narendra was rushed to the hospital at Kotdwar by locals where he is being treated and said to be stable.
Forest officials who had reached the scene of the incident were urged by the locals to kill the animal which was turned down. The local residents, to vent their ire, staged a 'sit-in' throughout the night at the spot.
Early today as around 0400 hrs, when the room was opened by the officials, the tiger was found dead.
In yet another incident, a shepherd Surendra Singh Gussain was attacked by a tiger at Kulasu village and sustained severe injury in his neck, his hands and other parts of his body. However he managed to save his life by putting up a brave fight. The tiger later fled from the spot, leaving him bleeding.
He has also been admitted in a local hospital.
