Congress seeks apology from Vajpayee
New Delhi, Aug 10: The Congress today said the letter addressed by the BJP veteran leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee amounted to disrespecting the latter and the former Prime Minister should tender an apology for that.
''Majority of the people felt that the manner in which the letter was written by Mr Vajpayee to Mr Chatterjee amounted to showing disrespect to the Speaker and therefore the former Prime Minister must apologise,'' Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.
Replying to a question, Mr Singhvi told reporters that the Congress stand on the nuclear deal with the US was clear as far as Parliament was concerned. The Congress was opposed to any resolution being brought opposing the nuclear deal in Parliament.
''A short duration discussion (on nuclear deal) may or may not be held,'' Mr Singhvi said.
