Sensex open 25 points in the red, recovers soon
Mumbai, Aug 9: The BSE Sensex today opened 25 points in the red, however it soon recovered from the lower level and extended their gains as the Banking scrips firmed over the announcement that the US Fed rates remain unchanged at 5.25 per cent.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index sensex opened at 10,990.73 and soon recovered to touch the high of 11,118.93. It is currently trading at 11,112.47 points which is 98 points more than tbe previous close.
All the sectoral indices led by FMCG and the Banking scrips were trading in the green.
Asian markets were mixed on Wednesday. Key benchmark indices in Hong Kong and Singapore recovered from the red and moved into the green. However, the Japanese market remained weak due to concerns about a slowing US economy.
Major gainers on the index are Tata Motors, wipro, Hero Honda, Tata Steel, Reliance and ITC all upo between 1.57 to 2.43 per cent.
