Security beefed up at NSCBI airport

Kolkata, Aug 9 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport after yesterday's bomb scare.

Following the threat, extensive searches of all aircrafts and pasengers arriving from Bangladesh, especially Bangladesh Biman. But nothing incriminating was found.

'' All operations at the airport are normal but security has been stepped up after yesterday's bomb scare regarding the RDX, '' Director of Airports Authority of India (NSCBI Airport) V K Monga told UNI today.

NSCBI Airport CISF Commandant Kashinath Tripathi said, apart from the mandatory checks by the Customs and Immigration authorities, random checks were being carried out.

An unidentified caller rang up Assistant Commissioner, Customs, around 2 pm, warning him, in English, that two Bangladesh Biman flights from Dhaka contained RDX explosives.

However, one of the flights PG 091 from Dhaka had already arrived at 10 am and subsequently left for Bangladesh capital.

The second flight PG 093 is also expected from Dhaka in the evening.
