PM to present award to VTPS
Vijayawada, Aug 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would present the national award to Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) for its meritorious performance, at New Delhi shortly.
Speaking to UNI here today, VTPS Chief Engineer P Y Ratna Kumar said the power station had already won a gold medal at national level for its performance earlier.
It was planning to complete the work on its fourth unit by 2008 for producing 500 MW of power.
The civil work had been completed and work on turbine generation, electro static precipitator and chimney works would soon be taken up.
The third unit had created an all India record and international level ranking by functioning continuously for 441 days without tripping, he claimed.
The thermal station was currently producing 1260 MW. This was expected to go up to 1760 MW with the commissioning of the fourth unit, he added.
